10 Things I Hate About You is an American television situation comedy broadcast on ABC Family beginning in 2009. Developed by Carter Covington, the show is a half-hour, single camera series based on the 1999 film of the same name. It premiered on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 8 pm and brought in 1.60 million viewers, a record for a 30-minute comedy debut on the ABC Family network. On April 29, executive producer Carter Covington announced on his Twitter account that the series had been canceled by ABC Family due to low ratings.

After only one season, “10 Things I Hate About You” will say goodbye to its fans. ABC Family has canceled the teen drama after its rating fails to go beyond the 1 million mark and it reached all time low on April 12 episode “Great Expectations”.
The first to reveal the sad news was executive producer/writer Carter Covington who wrote on his Twitter, “Sad news ABCFamily canceled the show 
…Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!” The Thursday, April 29 posting was followed up by a confirmation from the show’s rep to Zap2It.
There are five episodes left in the series before the finale on May 31. Covington previously told EW that the finale will end with “AWESOME cliffhanger.”
Created based on the feature film of the same title starring Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger, the TV series follows the Stratford sisters, Bianca and Kat, who have different personalities but have the same circle of friends at Padua High. Gil Junger, who directed the film version, directs most of the first season’s episodes.

Burbank, CA (Thursday, April 22, 2010) – Bianca sets Cameron up on a date with Dawn (Ally Maki) and Patrick tells Kat she’s free to date whom she chooses, so she does, in an all-new episode of ABC Family’s original series “10 Things I Hate About You,” premiering Monday, May 10 (8:00 – 8:30 PM ET/PT). The episode, entitled “Just One Kiss,” was directed by Melanie Mayron and written by Erin Ehrlick.
It’s movie night at Padua High, and Bianca and Joey double date with Cameron and Dawn. Kat, upset that Patrick doesn’t care if she dates other people, decides to accept Blank’s (Benjamin Stone) date night invitation. Patrick doesn’t deal with seeing the couple out on the town very well. Meanwhile, Walter hits it off with the school counselor, and romance ensues.

Burbank, CA (Tuesday, April 13) – Bianca, at all costs plans to take the 1st place trophy in Padua High s talent show, that is until Chastity steals her song, in an all-new episode of ABC Family s original series, “10 Things I Hate About You,” premiering Monday, April 26th (8:00 – 8:30 PM ET/PT). The episode, entitled “The Winner Takes All,” was directed by Gil Junger and written by Jordon Nardino.
Right before hitting the stage, Chastity experiences technical difficulties and her mom advises she play sick to get out of competing. Will she perform, or will Bianca win the talent show trophy and a grand prize walk-on role on “Make It or Break It?” Meanwhile, Cameron performs a little magic with a stage-struck Kat as his sidekick.

ABC Family confirms to us exclusively that the network has picked up the back 10 episodes of 10 Things I Hate About You‘s first season! According to show runner Carter Covington, those episodes are likely to premiere beginning in January 2010.
