Scrubs Show Summary – The series follows the unique point of view of Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian (Zach Braff). After leaving for a job at another hospital, J.D. returns to Sacred Heart to teach at its medical school alongside Chris Turk (Donald Faison), Perry Cox (John C. McGinley), Denise (Eliza Coupe) and Bob Kelso (guest star Ken Jenkins). Together they serve as professors (and inspiration) to a brand new class of med students, including the impressionable Lucy (Kerry Bishé), former med school drop out Drew (Michael Mosley), and cocky, entitled Cole (Dave Franco). As for his personal life, J.D. is now married to longtime sweetheart Dr. Elliot Reid (guest star Sarah Chalke), and the happy couple are expecting their first child.
“Scrubs” stars Zach Braff as J.D., Donald Faison as Chris Turk, John C. McGinley as Perry Cox, Eliza Coupe as Denise, Kerry Bishé as Lucy, Michael Mosley as Drew and Dave Franco as Cole.
In its debut year, “Scrubs” was nominated for two Emmy Awards and a People’s Choice Award. It has received a total of 10 Emmy nominations, and in 2005 won the Emmy for Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing. In 2004 the series was honored with a prestigious Humanitas Prize. Beginning that same year, it received three consecutive Producers Guild Award nominations, from 2004-2006. “Scrubs” was recently honored with the prestigious 2009 Humanitas Prize for “My Last Words.”
“Scrubs” is produced by ABC Studios. Bill Lawrence (“Spin City”) is the executive producer and creator. Josh Bycel and Jonathan Groff are also executive producers.

ABC is in talks to renew Scrubs for a ninth season, but one stumbling block is the availability of original cast members, none of whom have deals beyond this current season.
Both Zach Braff and Judy Reyes have said that this is their final year on the show, though Braff as of late has hinted he might be game for the occasional drop-by.
Donald Faison, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn this spring all booked pilots which, if picked up, get first priority. In such a scenario, Turk, Dr. Cox and Janitor would at most be recurring characters.
Sarah Chalke, who recently filmed the Lifetime miniseries Maneater, has in interviews left open the door for a return.
A salvaged Scrubs also could focus on new interns introduced this year and played by Sonal Shah, Eliza Coupe, Betsy Beutler and Todd Bosley.
In addition to cast concerns, there is the matter of (of course) money — namely. how low a licensing fee ABC can pay Scrubs producer ABC Studios for another season.
Series creator Bill Lawrence is said to be heavily involved in the renewal talks, even though he, too, has a new project on deck — the Courteney Cox-fronted comedy pilot Cougar Town — and thus could be pulling double duty.
Originally an NBC series, Scrubs has performed decently for ABC this season, delivering a modest audience yet skewing toward desirable upscale demos. It also serves as a good lead-in for freshman laffer Better Off Ted, which itself is being eyed for renewal.

ABC is in talks to renew the veteran comedy “Scrubs” for a ninth season with some or all of the original cast members coming back full or part-time.
The network is going over the proposed budget for next season with series producer ABC Studios.
“Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence, busy editing his ABC/ABC Studios comedy pilot “Cougar Town,” is said to be deeply involved in the renewal talks as well as in the discussions with the cast, who don’t have deals beyond the show’s current eighth season.
Last summer, Lawrence and ABC chief Stephen McPherson indicated that they were looking into a way to keep “Scrubs” going with new cast members, a la NBC’s revolving-door medical drama “ER.” This season, the show integrated a new crop of interns.
Additionally, talks are under way with the original cast members about ways to bring them back, possibly as recurrings, as in the case of Zach Braff, who had said this was probably his last year on the show, as well as Donald Faison, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn, who are co-starring on pilots.
For Faison, McGinley and Flynn, “Scrubs” is in second position to ABC’s “The Law,” CBS’ “Back” and ABC’s “The Middle,” respectively, which means they can at most be recurring on “Scrubs” if their pilots go to series.
And Lawrence, of course, could be pulling double duty if his Courteney Cox starrer “Cougar Town” goes and “Scrubs” gets renewed.
In its debut season on ABC after seven years on NBC, “Scrubs” has been a modest performer at 8 p.m. Wednesday. But it has helped launch new comedy “Better Off Ted,” with both series enjoying critical praise, strong support at the network and talk about possibly extending the pairing into next season.

Tonight’s episode of Scrubs is the first part of the two part wedding of the Janitor entitled “My Soul on Fire.” In this eagerly anticipated episode teased about before the season began, the Janitor and Lady send out invitations to their fake wedding in the Bahamas in order to score free gifts.
When J.D. leads the group to accept the invitation, despite the fact the wedding only three days away, the Janitor and Lady have no choice but to go on with it!
Before that, fans of J.D. and Elliot will be happy to know there’s a scene of the two of them in bed where they lay down the framework to have little J.D.’s and Elliots. As far as the rest of the epiosde, there’s going to be iconic 70s television characters, Jordan rapping, and the Todd’s backstory.
