After canceling The Nine Lives of Chloe King and ordering more episodes of The Lying Game ABC Family continued to check items off its to-do list by renewing gymnastics drama Make it Or Break It and canceling State of Georgia. The network has also picked up half-hour comedies Baby Daddy and Village People.
… MTV also did some housekeeping, picking up a half-dozen shows to series. Underemployed is a comedy about recent college graduates; Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous is a mockumentary from comic Bo Burnham; Catfish is based on the movie of the same name; Hoods sees celebs return to their hometowns (groan); Wake Brothers is a reality show about two professional wakeboarding brothers (groan on top of another groan); and Wait Till Next Year is about a real-life horrible high school football team that hasn’t won a game in five years. When asked whether it’ll be airing any music videos, MTV laughed.
… ABC is working with Fred Willard on a new improv comedy show called Trust Us With Your Life. It’s basically Whose Line is it Anyway? and even features Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie. Have you seen Colin lately? He’s looking ooooold.
… ABC is developing another drama based on the famous story of Jekyll & Hyde. Jekyll & Hyde will follow a female criminal psychologist who is intrigued with a brilliant scientist and his evil other half. Word is, the show may deal with cloning and feature some sci-fi elements. Try not to confuse this with ABC’s recent purchase of the project Hyde, but we’ll forgive you if you do.

MTV has assigned one of its juggernauts to ring in its New Year’s Eve special. “Jersey Shore” star Snooki will climb into a ball that is lowered into New York’s Times Square as part of “MTV New Year’s Bash”.
Snooki is not the only “Jersey” cast to appear at the live event. The Situation would lead the crowd for a serious fist-pumping in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record. Meanwhile, DJ Pauly D would be the official DJ of the night.
Rapper Flo Rida is tapped to perform two songs while Whitney Cummings is one of the comedians who would give their unique take on the music, TV shows, Internet happenings, relationships and douche bags who made 2010 an unforgettable year, MTV said.
The hour-long show will be broadcast live from the MTV studios in Times Square with Cummings as the host. There will be additional reporting of the festivities down below from “The Seven” hosts, Kevin Manno and Julie Alexandria. Beside waiting for 2011′s arrival, the crowd can expect a sneak peek of “Jersey Shore” season 3.
Audrina Patridge will officially juggle two shows on MTV next year. The reality show star has been signed to appear on “The Hills” again after weeks of negotiations and at the same time, she will begin the production of her own reality show which is produced by Mark Burnett.
“I can officially confirm that Audrina Patridge will appear in the 6th season of The Hills,” Jennifer Shoucair Weaver, a rep for the actress, told Us Magazine. “Production will resume shortly after the new year. Next week, Patridge begins filming the pilot episode of her currently unnamed spinoff show, also for MTV.”
Patridge reportedly got a lucrative deal for signing up to the sixth season of “Hills”. A source said, “She is getting six figures per episode.”
Not exactly friends with Kristin Cavallari, the main protagonist of “The Hills”, Audrina Patridge had uttered her intention to leave the show. She said it would be like a graduation before she moves on with her own project.

Retreating from “The Hills“, Lauren Conrad is looking forward to another foray into television. And one source that she may pick as a material is her own fiction novel, “L.A. Candy”. “It’s one of my hopes,” Conrad told E! about her wish to get the novel being adapted.
In fact, the 23-year-old would like to jump into the project right after promoting the book which is launched this month and published via Harper. She said, “We’re going to start working on that when I get back from my book tour.”
“L.A. Candy” is a young adult novel that follows Jane Roberts, a beautiful young woman with sweet nature who moves to L.A. with her gorgeous childhood pal Scarlett. Jane has the ambition to be an event planner but once in the big city she is offered to star in a reality TV series.
With a fashion line already running and a book already in stores, Conrad is also thinking about a new reality TV series. When the camera stopped rolling at the end of “The Hills” season 5, she refused to hear any offers, but is now having second thoughts. “I actually asked not to hear them,” she said. “I said, ‘Don’t tell me anything.’ So problem solved, and I got to enjoy some time away. But my two months is up now.”
The fifth season of “The Hills” marked the end of her stint on the MTV reality series. On the finale she attended the wedding of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt before leaving the church alone and quietly. Kristin Cavallari, her former rival on “Laguna Beach”, will take over as the center of the show, but Conrad admitted that she won’t be a fan. “I probably won’t watch it,” she said. “I’m not a huge TV person.”
