Criminal Minds is an American police procedural drama that premiered September 22, 2005, on CBS. The series follows a team of profilers from the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) based in Quantico, Virgi
nia. The BAU is part of the FBI National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime. Criminal Minds differs from many procedural dramas by focusing on the criminal rather than the crime itself. The show is produced by The Mark Gordon Company in association with CBS Television Studios and ABC Studios. The original title for Criminal Minds was Quantico, and the pilot was filmed in Vancouver. In the Quantico script, Jason Gideon was named Jason Donovan. The show is created by Jeff Davis. Davis graduated from Vassar College with a degree in film screenwriting from the University of California. When he was just 30 years old he did a script for the show.
CBS announced in October 2009 that Legacy Interactive will develop a video game based on the show. The game will require players to examine crime scenes for clues to help solve murder mysteries. The game is scheduled to come out early 2011.[dated info]
On May 18, 2011, CBS renewed the series for a seventh season.

The CBS procedural drama Criminal Minds centered around the FBI’s elite Behavioral Analysis Unit, whose job it was to psychologically profile the country’s most dangerous criminals. Heading the unit was Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), who despite an abundance of personal problems was a positive genius at getting “inside” the heads of serial killers and other habitual predators, enabling him to anticipate the criminals’ next moves and to (hopefully) prevent their future crimes. Other members of Gideon’s “mind hunters” included Aaron “Hotch” Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), Elle Greenway (Lola Glaudini), Richard Slessman (DJ Qualls), Tim Vogel (Andrew Jackson), and Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler). Originally titled Quantico and executive produced by Mark Gordon (The Day After Tomorrow), the weekly, 60-minute Criminal Minds debuted with a special preview on September 22, 2005.

Criminal Minds season 7 continues this week with episode 7, “There’s No Place Like Home.” The BAU team is going to have to deal with tornadoes while trying to catch the unsub who is using the storms to his advantage.

In addition to the promo (here), which shows just how much the unsub loves the storms, there’s now a sneak peek out that shows the team on their way to Kansas. In the clip (below), they’re dealing with turbulence as they head right into the middle of Tornado Alley, and Reid of course has statistics to back it up when he mentions how dangerous tornadoes are. Garcia checks in with them to give them the rundown on the victims. The first is Jason Meredith, a 16-year-old runaway from Garden City, Kansas. He took off over a year ago. The second victim is Eric Jannell, 15-year-old foster kid from Wichita. He had been missing for three weeks. Both have records for possession and prostitution; they’re talking about street hustlers. They could be dealing with an extremely violent sexual predator. There are missing limbs, and once Prentiss suggests that the unsub could be keeping the parts as some sort of fetish, Garcia checks out, leaving the profilers to it.
Why is he targeting young male street hustlers? Is that his only type, or will they find different victims as it progresses and the unsub possibly escalates? So far there’s nothing show JJ’s personal life, but that’s just how Criminal Minds is. The focus is on the case—everything else comes second. Still, it’s going to be good to see Will back and get another look into JJ’s home life. With what they see everyday, these profilers need to have something good to come home to, and JJ has that in Will and their son Henry.

Fans of the Criminal Minds series are eagerly waiting for the news to come as to whether Thomas Gibson, who plays a key role of Aaron “Hotch” Hotchner in the series, will be returning in season 7 also. And with only few days left for the start of filming of Criminal Minds Season 7 episodes this tension is intensifying.
Fans are in tension but the co-stars of Gibson in Criminal Minds episodes are tension free. Joe Montegna, who plays David Rossi in the series, is pretty much sure that creators will have Gibson in Criminal Minds Season 7 episodes that means his contract will be renewed. But we will have to wait for official news to come.
I always carefully look for any news related to this as I don’t want Gibson to leave the show. This is the state of each fan because due to budgetary issues the creators are thinking carefully about whom to keep and Gibson’s contract has also ended with Criminal Minds Season 6 finale. Talks are still on between the production house and the star but I guess they are taking too long to make a decision.
Removing Gibson from the star cast will be big mistake, so better not make one otherwise will have to make amendments later on. This was the case with Brewster and Cook’s exit from the show but before it was too late the creators amended their mistake and brought them back on Criminal Minds series. I think creators will make a wise decision looking at their earlier mistakes.
Scripting part must be on for Criminal Minds Season 7 episodes and with Gibson’s status still not confirmed, will the writers’ not write Hotch’s part?
