Based on Alloy Entertainment’s book series by Cecily Von Ziegesar, CW’s Gossip Girl gave New York’s fashionable Upper East Side basically the same slick and sexy treatment as Fox’s The O.C. had given California’s Orange County. The series focused on a group of terribly wealthy, dazzlingly good-looking young men and women, all attending a high-end prep school. At the outset of the story, the previously unquestioned social supremacy of teenaged rich-bitch Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) was suddenly and unexpectedly placed in jeopardy by the return of Blair’s former best friend Serena Van der Woodson (Blake Lively), who’d just been booted out of boarding school. An unabashed “party animal” and romantic predator, Serena not only threatened Blair’s position as the school’s unofficial leader, but also tried to move in on Blair’s handsome-hunk boyfriend Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford). These momentous events were observed and commented upon by Blair’s current best buds Kati (Nan Zhang) and Isabel (Nicole Fiscella), and by the series’ obligatory “blue-collar” characters, likable Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgely) and his socially ambitious sister Jenny (Taylor Momsen)–the latter unwittingly targeted for eventual seduction by the school’s resident Lothario, Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick). The titular “Gossip Girl”, played by Kristen Bell, dished out all the dirt on her online website, thus acting as the series’ unofficial narrator. Originally planned as a theatrical feature starring Lindsay Lohan, Gossip Girl ended up being developed as a TV series by The O.C.’s Josh Schwartz, and in this form made its debut as a pilot on September 19, 2007, and as a weekly offering on October 1 of that year.

After some promo pictures were released earlier this week in support of “The Vampire Diaries” season 2, The CW has now dropped the ads via THR. If one notices, the dark poster is quite similar to the video ad which is titled Cosmic Love.

In the second season, Katherine’s return to Mystic Falls brings more chaos in town with her hidden motivation. In a footage played during San Diego Comic Con in July, the evil vampire tells Damon that she doesn’t want him and confesses to Stefan that she comes back for him. The first episode of season 2 that airs September 9 picks up on the same night as last season’s finale where Elena arrives home only to discover Uncle John’s and Jeremy’s fate.
For those who have not seen the first season, they have one week to catch up with the release of its DVD and Blu-Ray on August 31. Containing 4 discs, the DVD version will include as well pilot commentary by exec producer Kevin Williamson, deleted scenes, “A Darker Truth” webisodes and many more.

Vampire Diaries Season 2 Episode 1 The Return : KATHERINE HAS RETURNED WITH A VENGEANCE — Picking up on the same night as last season’s finale, Elena (Nina Dobrev) arrives home to a nightmare as she discovers Uncle John’s and Jeremy’s fate. At the hospital, Sheriff Forbes (guest star Marguerite MacIntyre) is comforted by Matt (Zach Roering), Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) while she waits to hear if Caroline (Candice Accola) will survive the car accident. After a confusing conversation with Elena about the night’s events, Damon is the first to realize that Katherine (also played by Nina Dobrev) has returned. Katherine’s arrival sends Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon on a path to find out what she wants, why she’s back, and how much of a threat she is to the people they love. Meanwhile, still reeling from his father’s death, Tyler (Michael Trevino) is surprised when his charming and mysterious uncle, Mason Lockwood (guest star Taylor Kinney, “Trauma”), arrives to console the family.
Next season, “The Vampire Diaries” will have Katherine returning to Mystic Falls, which means it’s the year of the Kat. This fresh clip shows how the comeback of the female vampire affects Stefan, Elena, Damon and people around them and what they do to fight her.

“The Vampire Diaries” will start season 2 with an episode called “The Return“. Aired on September 9, it will see Elena coming home to a nightmare; Damon realizing Katherine has returned; and Tyler receiving a surprise visit from his uncle.
With the appearance of Katherine, the other residents of Mystic Falls must choose sides as they fall victim to a new breed of danger. New and unexpected friendships will be forged, allies will become enemies, and hearts will be broken.
