Based on Alloy Entertainment’s book series by Cecily Von Ziegesar, CW’s Gossip Girl gave New York’s fashionable Upper East Side basically the same slick and sexy treatment as Fox’s The O.C. had given California’s Orange County. The series focused on a group of terribly wealthy, dazzlingly good-looking young men and women, all attending a high-end prep school. At the outset of the story, the previously unquestioned social supremacy of teenaged rich-bitch Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) was suddenly and unexpectedly placed in jeopardy by the return of Blair’s former best friend Serena Van der Woodson (Blake Lively), who’d just been booted out of boarding school. An unabashed “party animal” and romantic predator, Serena not only threatened Blair’s position as the school’s unofficial leader, but also tried to move in on Blair’s handsome-hunk boyfriend Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford). These momentous events were observed and commented upon by Blair’s current best buds Kati (Nan Zhang) and Isabel (Nicole Fiscella), and by the series’ obligatory “blue-collar” characters, likable Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgely) and his socially ambitious sister Jenny (Taylor Momsen)–the latter unwittingly targeted for eventual seduction by the school’s resident Lothario, Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick). The titular “Gossip Girl”, played by Kristen Bell, dished out all the dirt on her online website, thus acting as the series’ unofficial narrator. Originally planned as a theatrical feature starring Lindsay Lohan, Gossip Girl ended up being developed as a TV series by The O.C.’s Josh Schwartz, and in this form made its debut as a pilot on September 19, 2007, and as a weekly offering on October 1 of that year.

May I say, Emily, you sound mildly excited about Desmond Harrington’s return. But I can’t blame you! I think you’re going to love seeing the fun to be had when Uncle Bass comes back into Chuck’s life — that is, before things take a dramatic “turn.” “He and Chuck are on good terms,” Safran says. “It’s really fun between them — seeing them as uncle and nephew in a really light way. But then the story takes a turn and something is revealed. And Jack’s role in them will be challenged by Chuck.” [See below for a little scoop on your girl Liz.]

Let’s go with Nate — and with good reason. He has some juicy stuff coming up that stems from the return of the aforementioned leggy beauty Liz Hurley, and it’s going to put some strain on his new relationship with Lola. (One of manystrains, I hear.) But Nate’s major moment of the season comes closer to the end, after the full core team reunites for their seasonal take-down. “Every season we have our core group come together to vanquish an enemy,” says Safran. “This season — just upping it a little bit — our core group comes together for more than one episode to vanquish an enemy. Maybe even more than one! And that story involves Nate in a major way.”

If it’s a S/B story you’re craving my sweet ‘Minion, hold on to your headband because that’s pretty much the essence of the “really special” season finale, according to Safran. “The landscape of Gossip Girl will be forever changed from this point forward for everybody,” he says. “[It’s] almost entirely about Serena and Blair and their friendship and what that will be exactly.”

You should know more about the Gossip Girl. Parents should know that characters in these addicting culpable pleasures drink, smoke, do drugs, throw parties, and have sex. Their party lifestyle is glamorized. Sex is not graphic, but it isn’t always equated with love, either. But they are just in high school. You need to watch what is hip right now and that is the Gossip Girl. Sad to say, we are about to witness for its next episode more than a month more. The End of the Affair. Is all the gossips about the three girls going to end? Or it has something to do with their roguish affair? We need to find it out next year. All we have to do is to wait for the latest trend to whoosh on our computer screens. The plots are fun and do involve sex, drugs, and alcohol but it’s not like it at all. At this modern time, those kinds of doings are already rampant. Thus, we should be all open-minded.
For the story, this TV series follows a group of rich teenagers living in New York. The perfect girl, her best friend who wants to be queen bee, the wannabe, and a hot guy who is the object of every girl’s affections. And who follows all these delightful characters? None other than an anonymous blogger called, what else? – Gossip Girl “A”. As parents, it’s for you to supervise your kids whether you want them watching this kind of show. But as for me, what is being depicted on the show is no different from today’s time. Thus, we should just be open-minded.

Check out this Sneak Peek for Gossip Girl, Season 5 Episode 7 (5.07) “The Big Sleep No More” which airs on Monday, November 14th on the CW.
In this week’s episode of Gossip Girl, the triangle between Louis, Blair and Chuck heated up, but this time it was instigated by Prince Louis. He had found Blair’s paternity test, but we now know it 100% confirms that he is the baby’s father. However, the fact that Blair wasn’t sure about the father drove Louis to bribe Chuck’s therapist to drive him into a rage. Chuck discovered that Louis and the therapist were in cahoots and refused to crack, but he did expose the two of them at Diana’s Spectator launch party. In the end, Blair was angry about Louis’ actions and told him he needs to stop behaving like Chuck, although she declared there is no chance for a reconciliation between Chuck and Blair.
Meanwhile, Jane tricked both Serena and Dan into removing Dan as the screenwriter for the movie adaptation of his book. But when Serena discovered that Jane had plans to make major changes to the story, Serena asked Diana to kill the movie. When Jane fired Serena, Diana jumped in and hired her to be the new “Gossip Girl” for the Spectator.
Nate also learned that Diana has another man on the side and doesn’t want to expose their relationship. He used Charlie to try and make Diana jealous, but Diana just exposed that both Nate and Charlie were using each other.
In the November 14 episode of Gossip Girl, the cast heads to a performing of Punchdrunk’s theater experience called “Sleep No More”. Inside the theater the characters indulge in masks and some romantic twists. Diana continues to use Serena to take down Gossip Girl and Dan heads out on his book tour, but it may not be everything he thought it would be.
