Lady Gaga A So You Think You Can Dance Guest Judge

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

Lady Gaga must have impressed the right people when she appeared on American Idol, where she was a guest judge. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Lady Gaga will also be a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance. She will make her (most likely over-the-top) appearance later in the season.

Now, I’m a Gaga skeptic. I question her talent, and her fashion sense, every step of the way. She may know how to keep herself in the headlines, but that doesn’t mean she knows how to do anything else well enough to judge others. But that’s just me and no doubt they’re plenty of those who would argueLady Gaga

with me over this point; one of those being producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe. He told Yahoo that Gaga will “give great advice on how to handle yourself, how to be creative with what you do, and how to be a fabulous performer.”

Nigel is a professional and he’s been doing this job a long time, so it’s expected that he knows real talent when he sees it. If he believes in Lady Gaga then he must have good reason to. I will say that Gaga knows how to perform her dance choreography. I’ve seen a good chunk of music videos and she can move as well as anyone can. I’m just feeling a little overexposed to Lady Gaga’s particular brand of crazy. I think the world could use a bit of a break from her.

Lauren Froderman Wins ‘So You Think You Can Dance’

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

On Thursday, August 12, “So You Think You Can Dance” has crowned a new winner. Lauren Froderman beat the odds when she was voted as America’s favorite dancer in the finale, leaving Kent Boyd and Robert Roldan in the second and third place respectively.

Lauren’s victory came across as both predictable and surprise. Statistically, Lauren has only been in the bottom three once but the clean record is actually attained by Kent. Moreover, the audience seemed to be leaning on male contestants this season with the elimination of the female dancers three times in a row in the beginning of the season.

“There’s a ton of things I’d like to say,” 18-year-old Lauren said between tears and laughter upon finding out that she’s a winner. “But I can’t!” Host Cat Deeley then helped her, saying “Just a giant thank you.”

The finale night was also glittered with the performance a 7-year-old tap dancer, this season’s injured-but-recovering contestant Alex Wong, and Ellen DeGeneres.

‘SYTYCD’ Cut the Only Ballroom Dancer

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

The female contestants of “So You Think You Can Dance” this season proved to be less popular than the boys. After the elimination of Alexie Agdeppa last week, two more found themselves in the bottom three. Melinda Sullivan and Cristina Santana were in danger along with Robert Roldan.

These three danced for their lives as the last effort to impress the judges and stay in competition. Melinda danced the tap to Q-Tip’s “Heels”, Cristina did the salsa to “Quimbara” while Robert composed a contemporary piece with “Everywhere I Go”. After some consideration, the judges put Roberto back in the Top 9 and weighed in between Melinda and Cristina.

Head judge Nigel Lythgoe announced that the votes were not unanimous. Adam Shankman and Mia Michaels wanted to keep Melinda while Nigel did not because he thought she can’t connect with viewers well. But due to voice majority, Cristina, the only ballroom dancer this season, had to go home. This also means one all-star male will not return next week.

Two Go Home, Top 10 of “So You Think You Can Dance” Revealed

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off

The Top 12 of “So You Think You Can Dance” season 6 have been wilted down to mere 10. Married ballroom dancer couple Ashleigh Di Lello and Ryan Di Lello are through to the next round but Karen Hauer and Victor Smalley have to stop their journey on the show.

During the deliberation, Karen and Victor were joined in the bottom three by Mollee and Nathan; and Ellenore and Ryan. All six of them had to dance for their lives if they wanted to stay in the competition. Karen was criticized for looking like she has surrendered and thus was the first to be eliminated. On the other hand, Victor delivered an energetic piece but it was not enough to convince the judges to keep him.

The Top 10 apart from the Di Lellos are thus Russell Ferguson, Mollee Gray, Jakob Karr, Noelle Marsh, Kathryn McCormick, Jonathan “Legacy” Perez, Ellenore Scott and Nathan Trasoras. Now that only 10 dancers remain, partners are randomly assigned each week and judges will no longer have the voice in who should go home. Viewers will have the right to vote for their favorites.
