Britney Spears is reportedly closing in on signing a deal that will put her on the judges panel of The X Factor along with Simon Cowell and Antonio “L.A.” Reid.
Rumors that Britney was joining the show began early last month, when it was reported that her fiance and agent Jason Trawick was closing in on a deal with the producers of the show. Britney ultimately turned down their offer of $10 million and rumors died down.
But things heated up again over the weekend, and now with a $15 million payday agreed upon, only the smaller details remain to be worked out.
Britney will receive $13 million to judge, plus another $2 million to perform on the show. The deal is in place, but nothing is signed yet as Britney’s father Jamie is still her acting conservator – something Trawick is looking to take over.

“Both camps were back and forth on the money but now they have finally come to agreement on the fee.”
Furthur reports also suggest Trawick will also be joining the show – as a producer.
“Jason is expected to be there every day Britney is on set,” a source says. “He is her rock and will help guide her through the process. He is the person she trusts the most.”
According to Cowell, the show is going after a “very famous actress” to fill the fourth spot on the judges’ panel.

Western culture values winning almost obsessively. And why not when the spoils of victory far outweigh coming in 2nd or 3rd or lower. Yet what is the emotional cost to your performance when the need to win dominates your attention? It’s great to build a winner’s mindset instead of obsessing about winning. This is an area worth your serious investigation. Many players need to win for ego reasons and for feelings of self worth. This is potentially very damaging even if it does propel them to victory. I have nothing to say more about the competition. Thus, I have just told you about the process of winning since we had also witnessed how great The X Factor US contestants are. It’s time to find out which act will leave “The X Factor” after the Top 11 results show. Nine of the acts are safe and the two left to sing for their supper, so to speak, are Lakoda Rayne and the Stereo Hogzz. So Paula is not doing terribly well so far as a mentor, but I really don’t think it’s her fault.
At this point, I hope Lakoda Rayne goes home. I think the Stereo Hogzz are so much better as an act, I don’t understand how they were in the Bottom 2 two weeks in a row.
For the sing-for-your-life portion, Lakoda Rayne sings “No Air” and it’s …. hmmm. There are nice moments. But it’s not their best performance. Frankly, these girls just aren’t a “group.” Their four soloists smushed together and clearly the American voters don’t like group acts.
Stereo Hogzz do “You Are Not Alone,” which is nice. They really should stay, but I’ll guess we’ll see what the judges say.
L.A. votes first and he votes to send home the Stereo Hogzz. Nicole then votes to send home the Stereo Hogzz. Paula abstains and cries and cries. They then act like Simon has the deciding vote, which he doesn’t. Steve Jones then does the math and says that’s not the case because everybody’s stupid. Paula then saves the Stereo Hogzz because someone explains to her what is happening. This is just embarrassing. And the one dead-eyed member of Lakoda Rayne (you know which one I’m talking about) just looks annoyed and bored.Simon then sends home the Stereo Hogzz and Lakoda Rayne stays. Barf. The wonderful Hogzz have nothing but good things to say.

Simon Cowell’s trailer on the set of The X Factor

The entire Osbourne family could live comfortably in Simon Cowell’s dressing room for The X Factor, which is actually a mobile home on the lot of CBS’s Television City in Hollywood.
This isn’t some old utility trailer, either, but a 40-ton, two-story, 1,100-sq.-ft. indoor playground that also doubles as an office for the hypercritical Cowell.
Of its far-from-understated décor, Cowell, 52, tells the Hollywood Reporter: “It’s like Pimp My Trailer.”
His words.
Amenities include 26 sound speakers, three 60-plus-in. 3D TVs, mirrored ceilings, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and fresh flowers that are changed once a week.
Only once a week?

Simon Cowell’s trailer on the set of The X Factor

I’m pretty sure this is the first time it’s ever happened. In the too-many years that I’ve been writing about various singing competition shows, I don’t think it’s ever come to pass that the contestant (or contestants) I liked the least got sent packing on the very first show, but, for once, America got it right. Maybe it’s the advent of Twitter, maybe it’s the judge-centric format, maybe human fun-suck Steve Jones just created so much animosity, that people had no problem voting out children. Whatever the case, I’m glad they’re gone.
Speaking of simple text come to life Steve Jones, believe it or not, his presence caused me to Tivo through about 90% of the show. What I did notice was, him reading the results off a list, endless recaps of the previous night’s show, and not much else. What fascinating television!
I did like the voting off wrinkle. I’ve always thought it best to let the judges make the ultimate decision. There are those rare cases where somebody great ends up on the bottom and it’s nice to know that the judges have a chance to prevent those ridiculous early exits. So I look forward to that every week.
Other than that, these results shows seem like another 20-minute Tivo-through spectacular. No matter how many times somebody named Outasight says “tonight”.
Let’s get to the first edition of ‘The X Factor’ Power Rankings. Remember, these are listed in order of who is most likely to win, not who I like the most or think is the best.
Power Rankings:
1 – Drew
It just seems like the producers, the judges, and everything else shaping this show is setting her up as the breakout star of the series, and she just keeps delivering. She’s set to steamroll the competition at this rate.
2 – Melanie Amaro
Eventually, the memory of Simon’s “kicking her out” is going to fade away. Well, if he ever stops mentioning it, it might. It was a shrewd move to make the best contestant the underdog, but it remains to be seen how long she’ll enjoy that position and when there might be some Melinda Doolittle backlash coming her way.
3 – Rachel Crow
I’m sure she’s America’s Sweetheart. I have no idea why, but I’m certain of it. I don’t think she quite has the pipes to pull it out in the end, but she’s got a real shot due to the likability factor.
4 – Josh Krajcik
Everybody’s favorite burrito maker is the feel-good story of the competition and he’s got some blowaway pipes too. If Nicole stops sticking him with crummy songs, he’s a real threat to win it all.
5 – Marcus Canty
I think the top four are the only contestants with a real shot at winning, but if anybody’s going to play spoiler, it’s probably Marcus. In these singing contest shows, we haven’t really seen anybody like Marcus since Justin Guarini – a real soul-pop singer with the ability to actually perform onstage. I think he’s a bit out of his depth, though, against the top four.
6 – Astro
A real wildcard in this competition. Ostensibly, this is supposed to be a singing contest, but Astro doesn’t sing. At all. He does, however, rap. And quite well. I’ve heard kids these days enjoy the rap music, so that could give him an edge nobody else has. It’s more likely though that it will just turn him into a one trick pony that people tire of.
10 – Stereo Hogzz
Their bottom two was more a function of going first than anything else. I think th
8 – Stacy Francis
It seems like she should be a stronger contender than this, but with all the crying and the very limited range, she feels like an also-ran at this point.
8 – LeRoy Bell
He’s good. But he’s old. The young girl contingent won’t like that too much.
9 – Chris Rene
Another feel-good story, but unlike Josh, Chris can’t really sing. Once the competition gets shallower, he’s more likely to get exposed.
11 – Lakoda Rayne
It’s pretty clear that Paula’s not going to guide the groups to a win.
2010 X Factor star Cher Lloyd and X Factor USA judge Nicole Scherzinger joined in the ghoulish fun and games with special guest performances.

This year’s X Factor finalists will star in a Christmas advertising campaign for Marks & Spencer, it has been reported.
The 16 contestants, whose identities will be revealed during tonight’s show, will record a 60-second advert featuring their version of ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ as the soundtrack.
The deal, negotiated by Fremantle and Simon Cowell’s Syco earlier this year, is said to be worth several million pounds to The X Factor and follows the retailer’s announcement last month that it will be the show’s official fashion partner.
“The finalists have never had a commercial partnership outside of the show before and it’s certainly the first time M&S have done anything like this,” a source told “We always have a big standalone Christmas campaign that becomes a talking point for our customers.

“But this year rather than using celebrities, the campaign will feature The X Factor contestants and their God-given talents. They will record an exclusive version of ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ which will be recorded especially for the advert.”
An X Factor source added that the singers will receive a “one-off nominal fee” for the work since it isn’t part of the show.
The advert, which will showcase Marks & Spencer’s Christmas clothing collection, is expected to debut later this year during the commercial break of The X Factor.
