Three out of twelve acts who competed in the first round of “America’s Got Talent” season 7 semifinals are moving forward to the finals. Nick Cannon announced the top four first, but not before talk-show host Steve Harvey took the stage.

Standing on stage alongside Turf and The Scott Brothers, Joe Castillo was the first to be named the top four act. William Close, Todd Oliver and his dog Irving, as well as Tom Cotter followed next, while the likes of Andrew De Leon, Academy of Villains and Eric Dittelman had to bury their hope to win the grand prize that night.
“Earth harpist” William Close and comedian Tom Cotter were advanced to the finals based on viewers’ vote, leaving the judges to choose between Todd Oliver and Joe Castillo. Howard Stern picked Todd, while Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel voted for Joe, sending the sand artist to the final round.
Next week, twelve other acts will perform in a bid to get viewers’ support to nab the last three positions in the finals.
After bringing out twelve acts during YouTube Snapple Special on Tuesday, August 14, “America’s Got Talent” has revealed their fates. Academy of Villains, who got a standing ovation from Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel on the performance show, was the first one announced advancing to the semifinals on Wednesday night.

Bria Kelly and The Magic of Puck followed Academy of Villains’ path after they were each called on stage with two other acts. When there were three acts left, Romeo Dance Cheetah was sent home, leaving it between Clint & His Extreme Parrots and Drew Erwin who still competed for a spot in the semifinals. The judges then made the decision, with Sharon, Howie and Howard Stern all voting for Clint & His Extreme Parrots.
During the August 15 result show, “AGT” welcomed special guest Gabby Douglas. The artistic gymnast, who brought home gold medals from the London Olympics, help Nick Cannon host the show, introducing acts and clip segments. Duo Karmin were also billed to perform that night, while YouTube comedian Randall “the Honeybadger Whisperer” made the audience laugh with his quips.
The recently-announced four semifinalists join 16 other acts who have earlier advanced to the next level. Next week, twelve eliminated contestants who are picked by the judges will perform on Wild Card show in a bid to secure the remaining spots in the semifinals.
Howard Stern has proven that the Parents Television Council’s concern about his “America’s Got Talent” gig was too much. The radio personality made his promise by behaving himself during his first appearance on the show.

Giving critical yet compassionate comments to the contestants, Stern even got nice reviews about his judging stint. “I forgot how much I love Howard Stern,” one viewer tweeted, while another added, “Never was a fan of Howard Stern but gotta say I’m loving him on the show.”
Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly said “Stern was, for the most part, perfectly fine.” Meanwhile, Robert Lloyd of Los Angeles Times wrote that the shock-jock “has shown himself perfectly capable of good behavior on other people’s turf.”
Still being himself, Stern told a stripping magician on the show’s season premiere, “As a stripper you can’t have man-boobs.” He, however, managed to insert a joke when responding to a terrible singer’s revelation that his parents were dead. “They died of embarrassment?” he quipped.

Howard Stern is in talks to replace Piers Morgan, who on Wednesday (Nov. 9) announced his departure from the “America’s Got Talent” judging table, further cementing the show’s reputation as “American Idol’s” weird doppelganger.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Stern is in talks with NBC to join Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel on the NBC talent competition show, which is due to return in 2012. In addition, the show — which is currently Los Angeles-based — may relocated to New York to accommodate Stern, who will continue hosting his daily Sirius XM radio show.
The WSJ reports that a $15 million a year contract is on the table and that an additional $10 million could be spent moving the production to New York.
On Wednesday, Morgan tweeted that he was leaving “AGT” to focus on his CNN show, “Piers Morgan Tonight” and coverage of the 2012 presidential election.
Stern was one of several names mentioned as a possible replacement when Simon Cowell left “American Idol” — an opening that was filled by Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.
What do you think? Is Stern the right man for the job?

REALITY SHOW NEWS
… Pervy radio host Howard Stern is in discussions to America’s Got Talent as a judge. It would be a major win for the show, which has been in need of a little more star power since David Hasselhoff left the show a few years ago. NBC and Stern are reportedly working on a deal worth $15 million a year. Which is good because Stern is really hurting for money after spending it all on sybian cleaning services. [NY Post]
… The spot on America’s Got Talent that Stern will potentially fill is open because Piers Morgan announced yesterday that he would be leaving the show’s judging panel. Morgan started hosting Piers Morgan Tonight on CNN early this year, and doesn’t think he can juggle both. Now the judging panel consists of a British woman who swears a lot and a man who became famous for putting rubber gloves over his head. [Piers Morgan's Twitter]
… Fox is shuffling around The X Factor during the week of Thanksgiving. The singing show, which usually airs Wednesday and Thursday, will air on Tuesday and Wednesday (the 22nd and 23rd) that week to avoid clashing with tryptophan comas. [Sun Sentinel]
… Speaking of full bellies, MTV’s Teen Mom 2 returns December 6! Wow! What a slow news day! [E! Online]

… CBS is revamping The Early Show and has pegged Charlie Rose and Gayle King to host the two-hour news show. Word on the street is that the new show will air early next year. [NY Times]
… Supernatural will welcome The X-Files‘ Nicholas Lea to guest star as Eliot Ness, the famous fed that brought down Al Capone. Sam and Dean will travel to 1940s Chicago and find out that Ness wasn’t just in the FBI, he was also a hunter! Sounds kind of like “Frontierland,” where Sam and Dean time-traveled to the Old West to meet fellow hunter Samuel Colt. Also, Once Upon a Time‘s Meghan Ory (she plays Little Red Riding Hood), will guest star in episode 11 as a prostitute. Aww yeah. [TV Line]
… More Supernatural news! Misha Collins, who plays Castiel on the CW show, will guest star on Ringer as a man who was partly responsible for the rift between Bridget and Siobhan. Can we start a petition to make sure Collins never plays anyone but Castiel on TV? [TV Guide]
… Jesse Plemons, best known as Landry from Friday Night Lights, will recur on NBC’s midseason comedy Bent. Plemons will play a member of a construction team that already includes J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm). [TV Line]
… Just because you are the World Series MVP, doesn’t mean you make good career choices. St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese will play himself on ABC’s atrocious midseason comedy Work It. But given how fast this garbage will get canceled, we may never see his episode. [EW]
… Wilmer Valderrama gets way too mentions in News Briefs. Yesterday he booked a guest role on Suburgatory, today he’s got one on NBC’s upcoming Are You There Vodka, It’s Me Chelsea. The news here is that it reunites him with his That ’70s Show co-star Laura Prepon. [EW]
… Party Down‘s Ryan Hansen will drop by Happy Endings as the next dating disaster for Penny (Casey Wilson). Hansen will play a successful guy who is “style challenged.” [TV Line]
… David Anders (Heroes, Alias) will check in to House early next year as a patient. Early buzz on the episode is that it’s a doozy, and Anders’ role is pivotal for the series. Perhaps he and Dr. House will fall in love! [TV Line]

I would love to see Stern on AGT. He can bring the harsh honesty that Piers brought except he’ll be able to bring some humor with it. Plus he’d probably mesh well with Howie and Sharon.
Wasn’t the Early Show already revamped? They fired everyone a year or two ago, didn’t they?
Awesome… Now all the people who said Ringer was shit and didn’t give it a chance are all going to be watching in a few weeks, when Misha Collins shows up. I HATE PEOPLE WHO DO THAT! I don’t like American Horror Story but I love Zachary Quinto! Doesn’t mean I started watching the show! If you don’t like a show, don’t watch it cause some celebrity shows up on it! It’s an insult to the fans who have been there since the beginning.

<sarcasm>Good idea, screw the ratings boost! I personally hate it when my favorite show goes up. </scarcasm>
I’m a firm believer everyone should watch whatever the hell they want, to be honest, this ‘true fan’ BS is just that, BS. Watch your show and quit b*tching. And for the record, I stopped watching Ringer, and I won’t be watching it when Misha shows up. Go forth and celebrate the good news.
I am officially sick of teen mom shows. So proud of myself
Howard Stern joining AGT… well, there goes all the class out of that show.
I definitely will be watching AGT for the first time if Howard is on-board. Love ‘em or hate ‘em you know he gonna mix thing up with the other judges and contestants. He’s infamous for his scathing opinions and is clearly not afraid to share them with a national audience.
This is one ballzy move for such family oriented show but if it works out, ratings ka-ching!
I give this decision five Baba Booey’s.
