The Plot: Salvador Dalí (Pattinson), Federico Garcia Lorca (Beltrán), and Luis Buñuel (McNulty) meet at university in circa-1922 Madrid. Together, they form the city’s first ultra-modern group while trying to realize their individual artistic dreams.
What a more-awesome world this would be if teenage girls turned away from lame fiction and went to museums with their mothers instead … okay, now I am envisioning an art-house theater full of young women with faux waxed mustaches applied to their upper lips … Like Ellen Page before him, Robert Pattinson gets to run his hands through his hair as his pre-Twilight movies are released to audiences hungry for more, more, more of the newly minted star. Zac Efron says he wants a career like Leonardo DiCaprio’s, but right now Pattinson is the one who seems to be on a post-Titanic flirtation with projects both large and small in scale. The question remains whether his following will dig his surrealist departure here. Meanwhile, it should be noted that director Paul Morrison is no stranger to dramatic love stories; his film Solomon & Gaenor earned a Best Foreign Language Oscar nomination nearly a decade ago.
