An origins story that follows the early life of James Howlett (Jackman), also known as Logan, and best known as Wolverine. The chronicle of his younger years as a mutant connects to his relationship and eventual falling out with Victor Creed/Sabretooth (Schreiber), and his fateful entry into the Weapons X project, the governmental program that turns willing and unwilling beings into living weapons.
The movie’s online piracy saga will go down as one of the premiere entertainment stories of the year; in truth, we think the real-life drama could give this alterna-world fantasy some box-office oomph it might have failed to deliver otherwise. Also, if Fox earnest effort to appease X-Men fans — from Hugh Jackman’s surprise appearance at Comic-Con last year, to the multiple after-credits endings disbursed across different prints of the movie — the company might improve on their reputation as the studio that tarnishes the legacy of their comic properties.
