The home at 657 Boulevard that is depicted in the series is, in fact, real. The actual Watcher residence can be seen in Westfield, New Jersey, at 657 Boulevard. The residence in the series has a common address. New York is where the neighbourhood and homes for the series were filmed.

The actual Broadduses paid $1.3 million, bought the 1905-built house in 2014 and started remodelling it before moving in. However, the family only partially occupied 657 Boulevard because they feared for their safety after receiving the foreboding letters from the Watcher. They put the house back on the market a year after buying it.

When possible, purchasers saw the letters that the Broadduses had received and were discouraged from closing the deal. The couple sued the previous owners of the house a year later, in 2015, for allegedly failing to disclose that they had also received a foreboding letter from The Watcher before selling the property. The judge rejected the action, but not before it garnered widespread media coverage.

257 Boulevard was put back on the market in the spring of 2016; however, the Broadduses were unsuccessful in selling it. To assist them in selling the house, Derek and Maria looked into various options, including the possibility of selling to a developer who intended to demolish the old house and replace it with two more modest homes. Nevertheless, a municipal planning board that included some of the Broadduses’ neighbours rejected this idea.

Does the house Shown in The Watcher Still Exist

Does the house Shown in “The Watcher” Still Exist?

The house in The Watcher is situated in a neighbourhood in New Jersey that appears to be lovely, as it is seen in the Netflix series. Westfield, New Jersey’s 657 Boulevard is the address; it is located only 45 minutes from New York City. It’s not quite as aesthetically pleasing as what’s seen in the episode, but it’s still a big structure with six bedrooms that was constructed in 1905.

Derek and Maria Broaddus, a couple, paid $1.4 million for the home in 2014. They did not, however, ever occupy the home. They started getting letters from The Watcher soon after the deal was finalised, and six months later, they decided to put it up for sale. The Westfield Planning Board refused to accept their attempt to sell it to a real estate developer.

According to Popbuzz, The former owners of the house stayed there for 23 years. When they got there, they also got a letter from The Watcher, but they thought it was a joke, and The Watcher never got in touch with them again.

Because of the ongoing letters, no one would buy the building from Derek and Maria. In 2015, they were able to rent the house to a family, but the letters that featured threats against Derek and Maria’s life kept coming. The Broaddus family eventually sold the home in 2019 for $959,000.

Derek and Maria reportedly left the new owners a snapshot of The Watcher’s handwriting and a statement that said, “We wish you nothing but the serenity and quiet that we once dreamed of in this house,” according to TheCut. If any other letters appeared, they affixed a snapshot of The Watcher’s handwriting.

“The Watcher” episodes can be streamed at Netflix.
