Who killed Jan and Gary Tyrrell and Why?
Apparently, Gary and Jan Tyrrell were brutally murdered at their Springfield home by Mark Porter, a 53-year-old Missourian. Gary, who had served as the district’s assistant superintendent, worked with the man who was the Mountain Grove School District superintendent.
The couple had known him for a long time and trusted him. Investigators discovered no evidence of a forced entry into the couple’s home, indicating that the couple welcomed Mark Porter.
Gary was viciously battered before being fatally shot twice, while Jan was allegedly mercilessly bludgeoned by Mark Porter with a walrus tusk. Authorities recovered Jan’s body on the first floor, while Gary’s body was discovered upstairs in a bedroom.
Further research revealed that Mark Porter owed the couple a sizable sum that he could not repay. Additionally, he is accused of stealing from the couple’s house some priceless coins worth at least $18,000. According to police records, these were the suspected causes of the murders.
What Happened to Mark Porter and Where Is He Now?
Police started to suspect Porter due to his odd conduct and words as the inquiry went on. After that, Porter’s DNA sample matched that of the crime scene, which resulted in his arrest for the murders of Gary and Jan Tyrrell.
Mark Porter entered a guilty plea and was given two life sentences in 2015. He is completing his term at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking, Missouri. Currently, Mark Porter is a prisoner at the South Central Correctional Facility in Licking, Missouri. He will be eligible for parole in 2043, according to sources.
