Is the ‘Buried In Barstow’ Based on a True story?

To be sure, ‘Buried in Barstow’ is NOT based on a true story. Thompson Evans and Tom Evans, who have vast experience working on and writing for a variety of shows, are the creative minds behind the engaging plot. As a result of their collaboration, the two Evans constructed an intriguing plot with a few parallels to reality.

In the Lifetime film, Hazel works as a serial killer for most of her life until she is blessed with a daughter, Joy. She gives up this lifestyle in order to raise her child in a normal environment. She is compelled to revert to her old ways when her past threatens to harm her present and, maybe, her future. A female character involved in the killer business has been seen in many different films and television shows. One of the better examples is Sook-Hee / Chae Yeon-Soo in ‘The Villainess.’

Sook-Hee, like Hazel, has been conditioned to kill since she was a child. However, now that she has given birth to her own child, she wishes to leave the business and live a regular life with her child. As you can see, the Lifetime film’s premise and elements aren’t something we haven’t seen before on screen. Regardless, the fact remains that ‘Buried in Barstow’ is not based on actual occurrences.
