Is Lulu The Dog Real or CGI

Is Lulu The Dog a Real Dog or a Computer-Generated Character?

Lulu in ‘Dog’ is a combination of three real trained dog actors. In an interview, actor Channing Tatum, who plays Briggs and also co-directs the film, spoke about his canine co-stars, saying, “They’re absolutely fantastic.”

I’d pay close attention to the trainers and their dogs. They’re noticing and realising things about the dog that I’m not even aware of.

It’s more like they have this tether with them, and they use it to correct and halt the behaviour before it occurs. They’re keeping the dogs focused, which is pretty cool to see.”

‘Dog’ is partially inspired by Tatum’s connection with his late pet dog Lulu, who is named after the protagonist.

Lulu, a Pitbull Catahoula mix who died of cancer in December 2018, was a close companion to the actor. Tatum used to travel with her on a regular basis, and their most recent road trip to Big Sur, California, inspired him to direct the film.

Indeed, he told USA Today that one of the scenes with on-screen Lulu reminded him of his late friend. The dog jumps out onto the road and attacks hens in that scenario. Tatum said his Lulu would do the same thing.

“That was my dog through and through,” Tatum continued. She was a hunting dog, and I don’t hunt, so she never got to put her instincts to good use.

And so she’d try to kill any animal that wasn’t a dog or a horse.” Furthermore, co-director Reid Carolin stated that the actor’s prior exposure to dogs aided his portrayal with his canine co-star.

However, when filming with the three dogs, the crew encountered a number of difficulties.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in February 2022, Tatum said that he had been attacked by the dogs on set on a few occasions.

He did laud the Belgian Malinois breed’s determined character, though, and added that they were able to acquaint the canine trio with the filming equipment with the help of several delicious treats.

As a result, the main character (or rather, characters) in ‘Dog’ are quite real. They depict the beauty of human-animal connections as well as the dynamic nature of pups well.
