Who Murdered Karen Jenkins and Why?

Karen’s tenants and others in the neighbourhood were questioned as part of the investigation. After looking through her phone records, she discovered that one of the last individuals she spoke with was a man named Gary Lee. According to the show, he first informed the police that he didn’t know Karen and had never met her throughout the missing person investigation. Gary was brought up for questioning after phone records revealed otherwise.

Gary ultimately admitted to what had transpired after being questioned. He claimed to be Monique Lee’s brother to the police. She was a single mother of two who lived in one of Karen’s apartments. Karen had presented Monique with an eviction notice two days before she vanished, according to the investigators. Gary had contacted Karen and enticed her to one of her vacant flats under the guise of being interested in renting it.

Monique then used a vacuum cleaner cord to strangle Karen while Gary pulled her legs down. They then sealed her lips and nostrils with glue and tissue to prevent her from breathing. The siblings carried the body around for the following few days before finally dumping it outside the abandoned house. Gary, who was only 19 years old at the time, and Monique were arrested in December 2010.
