Who was Linda Singleton and How Did She Die?

Linda Marie Daugherty Singleton resided in Mansfield, Ohio, with her husband, Allen, and their two children. She was adored by her siblings and regarded as a wonderful mother. Linda was working at Mansfield Assemblies, local manufacturing, at the time of the incident. The 35-year-marriage old soured after he lost his leg in an accident, according to the episode. This made it difficult for him to get to work and led to him drinking. The two had a lot of fights, with some of them being physical.

In December 2001, Linda had moved out of the house and travelled to Illinois to visit her family. She had planned to attend a New Year’s Eve party but never did. Linda was last seen between the holidays of 2001 and the beginning of 2002. Then, in October 2004, new information led to the discovery of her remains. Linda was discovered buried in a small grave on a property in Mansfield. She’d been executed-style shot in the back of the head with a 9mm handgun.

Linda was reported missing by her sister in August 2002, according to the episode. Her convoluted personal life was then revealed to the authorities. Angie Brown, a coworker, was Linda’s friend. Angie was living with her husband, Larry Brown Sr., and his two children, Edward and Larry Jr., at the time. Their friendship developed into a romantic relationship at some point, and Allen was made aware of it. Linda eventually moved in with Angie’s family.

Larry didn’t have an issue with his wife’s connection at first. The three even slept in the same room, according to Larry Jr. However, Angie and Linda eventually decided that they wanted to be together without Larry, leaving him out of the relationship, which enraged him. The two women eventually left the house, but the situation did not improve.

Larry set fire to Angie and Linda’s tent on a campground when they were staying there. Later, the couple moved around a lot, but Larry followed them everywhere. They used to share a motel room, but he used to threaten them verbally. While they were staying in a motel, Larry left threatening letters and tossed beer bottles at their door. Linda eventually realized she needed a vacation and made plans to spend the holidays with her family in 2001.

Angie also re-entered Larry’s life, putting a stop to her relationship with Linda. The investigation into Linda’s disappearance didn’t go very far because there was no evidence of foul play. The case went cold until Edward was arrested in September 2004 on other charges. He then made a deal with the prosecution, claiming to know where Linda’s body was and directing them there.

Edward told the cops that Larry Jr. told him where the body was buried, according to the show. As a result, the police interrogated Larry Jr., who offered additional information. His father, he claims, began acting strangely around the time Linda went. Larry admitted that he had done something he shouldn’t have and that he would be imprisoned for a long time as a result. Larry Jr. and Edward also noticed a puddle of red liquid in the driveway, which they mistook for blood, but their father said it was transmission fluid.

Before selling his automobile, Larry cleaned it and removed the trunk liner. He threw away a spare tyre cover, which was later discovered in the woods near the body and looked to have a spot of blood on it. Larry Jr. also testified that his father informed him that he “took rid of his problem” by cutting the 9mm rifle into pieces and throwing them out the car window as he drove down the road. Larry allegedly threatened to take his children down with him if they spoke to the cops, according to court testimony.

What Happened to Larry Brown Sr. and Where Is He Now?

The Richland County Grand Jury indicted the appellant on the offenses mentioned above in connection with Linda Singleton’s death on November 10, 2004. The case went to a four-day jury trial, which began on April 7, 2005.

Larry Brown Sr. never admitted to the crime in court, but his sons’ evidence — Edward and Larry Jr. — was enough for a jury to convict him of Linda Singleton’s murder. In addition, he was convicted of aggravated murder with a firearm and mutilation of a corpse. Larry was sentenced to 23 and a half years to life in prison in April 2005.

The prosecution suspected he brought Linda home under the guise of chatting about matters before killing her, according to the show. They then suspected Larry of stuffing her in the trunk and burying her in a shallow grave. Because he had done some maintenance there in the past, the burial site was linked to him. Larry is still detained at Richland Correctional Institution in Mansfield, according to prison records. In April 2028, he will be eligible for parole.
