Kevin Davis was named Interim Police Commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department on July 8, 2015, following a seven-month stint as Deputy Police Commissioner. Following his appointment, Davis battled with riots, rising crime rates, and an inquiry by the Department of Justice. When the FBI investigated the Gun Trace Task Force, he was the full-time Police Commissioner, and several GTTF officers were arrested and convicted.
Davis was the BPD Police Commissioner for over three years before Mayor Catherine Pugh removed him from the office in January 2018. Davis’ replacement has been named Deputy Commissioner Darryl D. De Sousa. Davis was named Fairfax County Police Chief in April 2021, over three years after leaving the BPD. He’ll most likely keep his job till the end of the year.
