Who is Bruce McIntyre and Where Is He Now?

Bruce McIntrye resides in the Bronx’s Riverdale district. Renita Isaac, Amber’s mother, helps him raise his kid Elias. Since the loss of his wife, Bruce has stepped up his efforts to oppose the violent racial practices that claim lives. His initial criticism was directed at the $2000 bill Montefiore had given him. He and Renita filed a lawsuit against the hospital in 2022, alleging that medical staff members’ errors and incompetence caused Amber to pass away.

Bruce has spoken up about his loss and the bigotry in the system that caused it. Since then, he has organized numerous protests and rallies, spoken at conferences, and promoted healthcare equity for expectant mothers. He is working to open a birthing center in the Bronx to provide residents with a safer healthcare choice. In order to advance the laws that can bring about the urgently necessary change, Bruce has also been engaging with members of Congress and others in positions of authority. He advocated for the New York Health Act to include doula and midwife services funding.

Bruce established the Save A Rose Foundation in Amber’s memory to promote the right to appropriate treatment for persons of colour and to further the goals that Amber actively pursued. Additionally, he has worked with Nubia Martin’s Birth From the Earth center to give low-income families access to funding for doula and midwife services. Several families have already benefited from this approach.

Despite this, there are moments when it feels insufficient. “I still feel like I’m not contributing enough. But I battle for her every day I get out of bed,” Bruce added. “I need to believe that I’m helping her in some way. I can’t let her and her name be forgotten, after all. However, it seems like lawmakers and healthcare professionals, whose actions can bring about the necessary change, should consider the issues he is fighting for.”

While raising a son who will never get to see his mother, I had to become a doctor, a birth worker, a maternal health campaigner, a community leader, and a politician.” Bruce said during the hearing by the Women & Gender Equity and Health & Hospitals committees of the City Council, “I don’t even have time to grieve. Why do I have to conduct so much research?”

Bruce McIntyre’s motivation ultimately stems from his love for his late wife and kids. He thinks Amber would be pleased with him for trying to improve things for others. “When people enquire about my power source for carrying out this activity, I reply that it is not my power. This is Amber’s ability, he declared.
