Larry Myers’ My 600-lb Life Journey

Larry Myers’ Journey in “My 600-lb Life”

When 45-year-old Larry Myers of Albany, New York, first appeared on our screens in episode 13, he said that his huge size causes him continual anguish.

Apart from asthma, sleep apnea, thyroid disease, and depression, he also suffered from severe lymphedema in his right leg, which limited his mobility.

That’s why Larry couldn’t stand for even more than 4 minutes only and had to rely on a cane or walker to get around, reducing his stamina to a bare minimum.

It all stems from the germaphobe’s difficult childhood.

Larry grew up in a seemingly happy environment with his parents and three sisters, but he quickly gained weight as a result of his mother’s care for him by feeding him.

Unfortunately, when that was combined with his dyslexia, he was teased at school, leading to an unstable relationship with food as a result of the comfort he found in it.

Larry’s bad eating habits became much worse after losing his young nephew “Little Larry,” who was proudly named after both him and his father when he was still a teenager.

Larry had found faith and had grown in love with gospel music by that point, but it couldn’t replace the void left in his heart by the bullying.

Larry Myers weight loss

Although he tried to move on, he eventually became a professional artist before things ran out of steam.

His eating disorder worsened only after the deaths of both his mother and sister within eight months.

Larry was 940 pounds when he fell at the latter’s burial, and a 12-day coma he fell into afterward prompted him to drop weight.

After spending two and a half years in a nursing home, working hard, and losing more than 600 pounds, the former singer underwent successful gastric sleeve surgery.

His efforts, however, were wasted because he was unable to cope with sadness and depression effectively, and he relapsed back into old patterns after losing another sister.

As a result, Larry gained 648 pounds before realising he didn’t deserve to die, progressively understanding what he had to do, and deciding to contact Dr. Now for another opportunity.

What Happened to Larry Myers & Where Is He Now?

Larry Myers initially struggled with out-of-state travel and adhering to Dr. Now’s rigorous programme, but he quickly adjusted to the circumstances and wanted what was right for him.

After all, by the end of the year, he’d not only permanently relocated to Houston, Texas, but he’d also lost 119 pounds.

Moreover, Larry was assured that if he maintained his weight loss, he would be authorised for his 2nd gastric operation shortly, prompting him to begin strengthening his mobility with additional exercises.

According to what we’ve learned, Larry is now happily residing in Houston. Unfortunately, he hasn’t provided any new updates or photos of himself to help us figure out if he’s lost any more weight or had surgery, but he’s made it clear that he’s committed to this trip.

There is no doubt that he is working hard to achieve his goals and make his dreams come true, which is our sincere hope as well.

So best of luck to him in the future.
