Meanwhile, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) and his estranged father are further divided by Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri). Jamie concurs with her and is ready to ask for an impeachment vote in front of the state assembly. John should stay awake while sleeping.

Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 7 Recap

Recap of “Yellowstone” Season 5 Episode 7

The episode began with a flashback that had appeared previously this season. Young Rip is conversing with Rowdy, another ranch hand, as they work to prevent wolves from attacking their calves. Rowdy disrespects Beth by hankering after her when she was younger. They fight when Rip’s temper gets the best of him. Rip continuously hits Rowdy with a rock when he takes out a knife.

When all is said and done, they decide that Rowdy needs care and that Rip should tell John and the others that he fell off his horse to avoid getting into trouble. When they return, they discover Rowdy has passed away. John keeps him safe but informs him that he will always be a ranch employee.

This incident may help explain Rip’s unwavering allegiance to the property and John Dutton III.

While having some pillow chat, Jamie explains that despite being reared as a cowboy, his father made him become a lawyer. He is comforted by Sarah when she informs him that John is now afraid of Jamie. In the end, Jamie is coerced by Sarah into agreeing to help save Yellowstone Ranch their way.

Everyone set up camp on the Yellowstone grounds after the public branding event. Abbey (country music star Lainey Wilson) camps with Ryan, but he eventually leaves her behind in the tent after sharing a passionate kiss. “This walk of shame better be worth it for you. Here, half of my church is camping out “She informs him.

Tate is also taken out by Kayce, leaving Monica inside the tent. She is beaming with pride as she sees their son mature into a man. The men leave their partners behind and go for the early shift.

Beth, Summer, Abbey, and Monica joke around over breakfast in the morning. Beth explains that she recently lost a kid when Monica questions why she doesn’t treat her harshly. Beth then confides in Monica, explaining that she cannot have children either. In response to Monica’s accusation that Beth is cruel because she holds such things inside, Beth responds that she was already a “b****” before the incident occurred.

For a meeting with Senator Lynelle Perry, Mo and Chief Rainwater come to town. They are not happy when she informs them that two new pipelines would be built through their reservation, especially since the president visited the area lately but said nothing.

Given that Rainwater’s rival Martin is gaining popularity, Lynelle is telling them so they can raise awareness of the situation and organise a protest. He exhorts Lynelle to secure Governor Dutton’s backing as well.

The ranch men discover several stillborn bison while out riding, indicating a brucellosis outbreak among the animals on the range. This is a problem since the state will kill John’s cattle if they catch it.

The branding event is still happening back at the ranch while visitors look on. While participating in some of the animal care and administering medication to some of the animals, Summer becomes disturbed as she watches the treatment of the calves.

The sickness that might wreak havoc on John’s herd is more than simply an issue for the cows; it will also impact the land. He looks for a new area with a mild winter where he may move half of his herd. Rip must accompany but will travel with Jake, Teeter, Ryan, and Walker. They could return to the Four Sixes Ranch, which will serve as the setting for the future spin-off series 6666 and be where Jimmy, a former Yellowstone ranch hand, currently resides after travelling for almost a year.

John needs to get a loan since leasing the land will cost the ranch $1.4 million monthly. Beth and John talk about their financial bind, and Beth accuses John of using a flawed economic model. Later, Beth looks into growing cattle for sale as an alternative business concept. Beth advises John to adopt a different strategy for Yellowstone.

Jamie returns to the Capitol, where Sarah and Ellis Steel from Market Equities meet her. Jamie doesn’t seem pleased about John’s decision to place the Yellowstone area under a conservation easement, and they are there to talk about it. Market Equities will file a lawsuit against the government as a result, and Sarah thinks this will constitute an impeachable offence. Jamie’s eyes light up at this, and Sarah tells him M.E. will support his campaign. This occurred when Jamie’s assistant forbade him from spending time with Sarah.

Ryan is initially sad upon returning to the ranch because he will now have to say goodbye to his new flame Abby. They won’t see a town for a while, so Rip gives him money to take the bunkhouse for a night out as restitution. Rip treats Beth and Carter to a fun night at the fair before he departs. John, Summer, Clara, Kayce, Monia, Carter, and the ranch staff are gatecrashing the family gathering.

Summer expresses her gratitude to John for including her in the group and says she now gets it during their heart-to-heart. Instead of avoiding tourists, she advises him to open his home and show them his way of life. They choose to kiss in public regardless of how it may appear to others, using only his hat as a cover.

The episode ends with Jamie preparing his speech, in which he calls for the removal of his father, Governor John.

On January 1, 2023, the midseason finale of Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 8 will air.
